The Chitra Collection

Chitra House Oslo is part of the Chitra Collection worldwide. Described as a footprint, a dream and a philosophy, Chitra House is dedicated to the memory of Chitra, the late wife of the owner Mr Nirmal K. Sethia.

Chitra Collection is originally known for being one of the world’s most impressive collections of antique teaware, owned by the N Sethia Foundation. Tea has a rich and lengthy history which stretches back many centuries. From its adoption by the dynasties of ancient China to its journey west into Europe and its Royal introduction to England, tea has always had a fascinating story to tell. What better way to recount that story than with a collection of teaware used by the great and the good throughout those years? The Chitra Collection does exactly that. A remarkable archive of tea heritage, this private museum brings together works by Wedgwood, Tiffany and Co., Fabergé and countless other artisans, ensuring tea’s place in global history can never be underestimated.

The N Sethia Foundation owns the globally acclaimed Newby Tea, which has won an array of international awards – more than 120 at the last count. That includes our Great Taste Awards, prizes at the North American Tea Championship and also our Pentawards, which recognise the very best packaging design from across the globe.

Newby Tea is of course available to be enjoyed at Chitra House Oslo
