History

In 2011 we began our journey to build the Chitra Collection around the world. All properties will be chosen for their uniqueness and special atmosphere, by the owner himself, Nirmal K Sethia.  The House of Chitra is part of Nirmal K. Sethia wife’s dream to share the beauty of the history.

Chitra House Oslo reflects the essence of Chitra in the qualities of love, compassion, beauty, refinement and elegance. Chitra House Oslo, the first of many properties around the world, was officially opened on April 12th 2016, hosted by Mr Nirmal Sethia, founder of Chitra House and The Sethia Foundation www.nirmalsethiafoundation.com and guests from around the world including Ambassadors, Excellencies and Mr Sethia’s closest friends and family. In a magical night, with light displays overlooking the magnificent Oslo Fjord, guests were treated to delicious creative culinary works of art, complemented by performances delivered by some of Norway’s best opera singers, harpists and artists, who delighted guests with their renditions of operatic pieces and Norwegian traditional anthems.

Described as a footprint, a dream and a philosophy, Chitra House is dedicated to the memory of Chitra, the late wife of Mr Nirmal K. Sethia. “She taught me that the first step to divinity is gratitude. To all who knew her she was the ocean of kindness. She never talked about her philanthropic activities or the good she had been doing all of her life.”

We have travelled from London to Venice, Jaipur and around the world to find the right combination of fabrics, colours, furnishings and touches to recreate the essence of Chitra’s favoured elements. Chitra House Oslo reflects the ultimate combination of rich Royal Indian heritage in the heart of Scandinavian natural beauty, in the heartbeat of one of the fastest growing cities and business hubs in Europe, making it an ideal meeting place for business and bespoke events.

Historie

I 2011 startet vi en reise med å bygge Chitra Collection rundt i verden. Eiendommene er håndplukket av eier selv, der beliggenhet, atmosfære og det unike skaper spennende møteplasser. Navnet Chitra er Nirmal K Sethias avdøde kone og hennes minne skal sette fotavtrykk også i vårt vakre land.

Chitra House Oslo er den første av eiendommene som er åpent for publikum og sto klar 12april, 2016.

Eier, Mr. Nirmal K. Sethia, (www.nirmalsethiafoundation.com) markerte åpningen med et knippe prominente gjester fra ulike deler av verden, inkludert ambassadører og eksellenser, samt nær familie og venner av Mr. Sethia som fikk oppleve en reise i kulinarisk kunst, underholdning fra våre beste operasangere og musikere, samt uforglemmelig dekor av blomster og lys.

Chitra House er beskrevet som ett fotavtrykk, en drøm og en filosofi, og er en hyllest til Chitra, Mr. Sethia’s avdøde kone. «Chitra lærte meg at det første steget mot guddommelighet er takknemlighet. Til alle de som kjente henne utstrålte hun en helt unik godhet og vennlighet, men snakket aldri om sine filantropiske gjerninger», sier Mr. Sethia.

Chitra House representerer essensen av Chitra, hennes kjærlighet, medmenneskelighet, skjønnhet og eleganse.

Vi har reist rundt i verden, fra Jaipur til London, fra Paris til Venezia, for å finne de rette kombinasjonene av stoff, farger, møbler og design for å kunne gjenskape essensen av Chitra. «Det er et meget ærefullt oppdrag å skape unike steder i verden til minne om Chitra. Det er lagt ned mye arbeid med å finne de riktige detaljene, lytte til familiens ønsker og ikke minst tenkt mye på hva Chitra selv hadde blitt begeistret av.
